Washington Caldwell PTO Meeting Agenda – virtual

Joane called to order 6:01 pm

 

1. Checking $715.16, Savings $6,815.33

 

2. Holiday shop

·      $2,375 spent by kids

·      $237 – we got back, going to the Giving Tree, PTO will supplement to bring up to $300

·      Having it 4 days it was nice to give kids an extra chance to shop

·      The items were better pricing, good variety and the company was nice to work with, so we decided to resign -- we get an extra 5% back, plus the 10% back equals 15% back!

·      Maybe run it 3 days instead of 4 just so there’s time for whoever gets to shop.

·      Thanks to Mr McCormick for lunch!!

·      UPS picked up their boxes today 12/14.

 

3. Christmas meals for teachers

·      Cotton Exchange $90 on Thurs – delivery

·      David Alan Alan’s – Mukwonago pickup; Maybe for conferences in February

 

4. Giving Tree

·      $300 match

 

5. Student water bottles-done

·      We will have a new student after Christmas- Kelli will email Lisa the name

 

6. Cookbook

·      Now is a good time to do it since it’s not a hands-on way to bring money in.

·      Quotes from Minuteman Press (3-5$ to make a book depending on color, size, etc.) Charge $10-15-$25 goodwill donation

·      Jan & Feb get recipes—We will promote in weekly update and send out updates to parents and staff to give us your favorite recipes.

·      Family last name/what category it fits

·      Middle school cover art – Ask Ms Goodsir to promote it, then we vote on best – Cover will be in color.

·      Grade school kids can draw the category pictures (appetizers, etc) pictures go in book at random

 

7. Chill Out Reading Event

·      Ms Jacobsen wants to do the event but in each classroom. We can make the treat bags to give out, the first Friday in January. Joane has cookies and will give them to Ms Jacobsen. 2021 seconds of reading (approx. 45 min event) Morning, so 4K can participate. Reading silently or read-alouds for smaller kids, then cocoa and candy canes. Encourage the teachers to play a crackling fire on their smartboards!

·      Number of students 174, 10 virtual / account for any quarantined students at the time

·      We will meet in the library beforehand to make the bags (masked/sanitized). Monday Jan 4 8:00 a.m. Get them done for pickup for virtual kids.

 

8. Raffle basket for spring fundraiser

·      We usually do it in conjunction with the winter concert. We could do it for spring.

·      A few Waukesha schools had a virtual event/online auction that is an option.

·      If we had to do it with virtual classrooms they could preview the raffle baskets at their pickup.

 

9. Student recognitions

·      Subs for student of the month kids is going well.

·      Winter honor roll will be end of January.

·      Ice cream cups were liked by kids, 2 cups each.

·      Toby will remind Joane on the day of.

 

10. Book Fair

·      Put on the radar – we did not have one last spring due to pandemic. We have not signed up yet. Scholastic has an online book fair but it is low selling.

·      It is usually mid-March with Turn Off TV Week.

·      Let’s revisit in Jan. We could do it outside in good weather.
