Washington-Caldwell PTO Meeting  Minutes

Monday 5.10.21 6 pm

 

Called to order 6:04 pm

Present: Kelli V, Toby T, Joane S, Lisa H, Kevin M, Taffy M, Val V

 

         Current balance is: checking: $3,429.76 savings $2,160.80

·      payment for garden club – Taffy was taking care of it $73.10 all set

·      book fair –– PTO will split the cost of what the kids actually spend on one book—

     will do $5 Wed – Th 9-3, Fri Morning and pack up on Fri afternoon

·      honor roll – June 3 – donuts – do in morning so the 8th grade can participate, 34 middle schoolers, Joane will make sure they are nut-free

·      payment for Theater Works $250 virtual field trips with UW Whitewater, Pete the Cat (young)

·      teacher appreciation follow-up – went well, had good feedback from the school board as well, the teachers enjoyed leftovers on Monday and the lanyards were appreciated, Toby is excited about the microwave (and popcorn)

·      cookbooks – push it out for fall fundraiser instead of spring because of time crunch – we will bring to meet and greet, to rock the block – start with a print run of 100 and do spiral bound, half sheet.

·      end of year carnival – new company but costs less, Willy Fun Events-free play, chalk, bball, tetherball, playground; giant soccer dart inflatables, big inflatable connect 4 bball, inflatable ax throwing, funk ball, tube with sticks (like kerplunk), limbo, 4 twister games, 5 kids at each twister; zoo station (no touch—American alligator, green tree python, tamrack (sp?), and Mexican tarantula); Mr McCormick approved pies instead of a dunk tank due to weather. Use paper plates and whipped cream.

  Snacks: popcorn, snowcone machine, drinks – lemonade and water

·      open floor – We approved money for Sue to give snacks to students, we needed pop tarts, $16.99 to Toby

–  vocab website subscription for middle school - $690/yr – could we pitch in some $ for the cause? $200 or so

– we owe April subway sandwiches

– we want to do May also on Friday of this week 5/14

– graduation – 1/4 sheet cake + punch.  7th grade parents will serve it, Thurs 6/3 at 6:30 pm, 1 hr ceremony plus reception

– everything went wonky last year but we will try to work hard on fundraising for the future – we are still “ok” at this point for supporting future programming.

– Maybe continue doing the meetings virtually for family and teacher convenience, get a static link
