PTO Meeting on 5/8/23

Bank accounts balances $1,820.77 savings / $837.05 checking

 

Staff appreciation week/gift/breakfast – Chinese lunch worked out well today (~$300). Everyone liked it. Breakfast had lots of signups, just need some dishes for eggs and sausage. Small crockpot of scrambled eggs will be done by Taffy and Lisa will pick up two packs of sausage at Wal-Mart. Start at 7:15.

We will get the lanyards for a back-to-school gift.

Teri will take candy up on Wed morning.

 

Bus driver dance party – Went well – kids and drivers were into it. Easy, fun way to raise some money. Maybe with Fall Fest we could have them come out. Dousman wants to do it again. We made $175. It would be a good winter event since spring has lots of people busy with sports.

 

IEN number – We need to send the IRS our funds taken in, need to figure out how to do this and what items we used this number for.

 

Camp Read A Lot – Canceled due to Mrs. Jacobsen being out.

 

Graduation – Joane will order cake and donuts for honor roll and Val will pick up and drop off at the school that morning. Joane will go to dollar store for plates and napkins.

 

Final honor roll – 48 doughnuts (order by the dozen).  Toby is going to ask for some parent volunteers but we can cover if no one offers. Lisa will bring stuff for punch that afternoon.

 

Carnival – Small animal petting zoo on tap; we also contracted with All-Star Rental for a slushy machine. Joane ordered cups and straws online. We need a sign-up genius for parent volunteers and we need whipped cream for pie in the face. We also need to get some bandannas for three-legged races. We also need chalk. Joane will ask for donations of chalk in the sign-up genius. We will use the same vendor as last year. The insurance waiver was $150 (seemed high). Maybe we can sign up Heather/All-Star for next year. We need to remind staff that kids eat lunch in their classrooms.

 

Spaghetti dinner – fall

We talked about putting a committee together. We need to find someone to head and organize. Do we want to put out an email for more volunteers? Should we do a different fundraiser for next year?

Heather mentioned that Paul’s Pedal Pushers is doing a fundraiser with the WGSD schools. There is also a gift card fundraisers. A couple other districts are doing spaghetti dinners, we need to pick a date. We could get items from the community for a silent auction. We might have to look into doing that. Should we get some other parents to get this going? We should do it now because the people will need some time to plan it. October ish would be good, before Fall Fest?  Val will write a few lines for PTO volunteers to head up the dinner.

 

Open floor – If we get the lanyards from the town provider we could get some quotes from them for other items. We need to decide on the specifications for what is requested.

 

Next meeting is June 12. We need to put it in the parent update the week before. Our meeting to brainstorm for the upcoming school year. We will meet 1x over the summer for planning to Rock the Block goody bags, etc. We will plan to be at Open House and sell koozies and water bottles, cookbooks. Need the date. TBD
